You are welcome to have a free, no obligation, phone or video call to discuss your issue and check that RTT hypnotherapy is right for you. I can explain the process and benefits of hypnotherapy and answer any questions you may have.
At your initial consultation I will spend some more time finding out about you, what you want to change and how you want your life to be when you are free of the issue that’s holding you back.
During your (online or in-person) RTT hypnotherapy session, I will use hypnotherapy and other techniques so that together we can uncover the root cause of your issue and rewire your subconscious mind for success. Hypnosis is an entirely natural state of relaxation and focus, and clients find the session a liberating and empowering experience.
I will make a personalised audio recording for you to listen to for the next 21 days. Listening to this recording wires in the new, positive beliefs you will have created, that support the life you love. Many clients enjoy their recording so much they listen to it well beyond the 21 days. I will check in with you regularly during this period to provide support and review your progress, including whether a further session is needed.
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that uses hypnosis to help address issues and promote positive change by working with the subconscious mind. A hypnotherapist guides you into a deeply relaxed and focused state, allowing you to explore your thoughts, feelings, or memories at the subconscious level, and work on solutions in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Hypnotherapy can be used for a range of issues, including overcoming anxiety, imposter syndrome or fears, weight loss, breaking unwanted habits, improving performance and achieving personal goals.
Hypnosis, or trance, is a natural state that we drift in and out of several times a day without always being aware we’re doing it. For example we go into a ‘trance’ when daydreaming, driving on ‘autopilot’ or when we’re fully absorbed in a book or a film: at these times you are intensely focused yet still aware of your surroundings.
Hypnosis in a therapeutic setting is a natural, relaxed state of heightened concentration where the subconscious mind becomes more receptive to new ways of thinking and positive change. Hypnosis allows you to explore and address underlying thoughts, behaviours, or beliefs that may be difficult to access in a regular state of consciousness. And since it is these subconscious drivers that often run the patterns in our lives we want to change, working at the subconscious level means you can make profound changes very rapidly.
Hypnosis feels different for everyone, and often it’s not hugely different to your normal conscious state. Most people describe it as a deep state of relaxation combined with a heightened sense of focus. You might feel physically relaxed, with a sense of calm, lightness or feeling ‘floaty’, while your mind remains alert and focused on my voice. While your focus is on th exchange we’re having, you remain aware of your surroundings and can come out of hypnosis any time should you want to.
Hypnotherapy works by first guiding you into a state of deep relaxation and focused awareness. To do this I might ask you to focus your gaze on the ceiling and then close your eyelids, and then guide you to imagine you are moving steadily down some steps. When you’re in a relaxed trance state, your conscious mind becomes less dominant (quietening down your busy, internal chatter), allowing your subconscious mind to become more open to positive suggestions and new ways of thinking.
I then use personally tailored guided imagery and techniques to help you address the root cause of the issue you want to resolve. These techniques include ‘regression’ (going back to events which shaped unhelpful beliefs or behaviours driving the issue, to reframe and take the negative influence out of these) and ‘parts work’ (working with the ‘part’ of you that’s bringing the unwanted issue, discovering its beneficial intention and helping that part bring you more helpful results). I also help you access or install inner resources you might need such as confidence, motivation or resilience.
I make all my clients a personalised audio recording towards the end of the hypnotherapy session, which includes visualisations and positive suggestions to move the subconscious mind to a more empowering inner dialogue and beliefs that support the outcomes you want. Successful athletes and business people use visualisation to programme themselves for success – the mind responds powerfully to visual imagery and repetition. I ask you to listen to this audio daily for 21 days to ‘rewire’ your subconscious mind with the thoughts and feelings that support your goals and overpower any negative critical inner voice you might have. Over time, these suggestions amplify and embed the changes you made in the hypnotherapy session so that you achieve lasting results.
During a hypnotherapy session at Clear Skies Hypnotherapy, you are an active participant. While I guide you into a relaxed state, you remain fully aware and in control throughout the process. I might ask you to visualise specific scenarios, respond to verbal suggestions, or reflect on certain thoughts or feelings. Your openness to the process and willingness to engage are key to the effectiveness of the session.
Yes, hypnotherapy is a safe, natural and non-invasive practice and I am a qualified clinical hypnotherapist. During a hypnotherapy session, you are always in control and can bring yourself out of hypnosis at any time. Hypnosis is a cooperative process where the hypnotherapist guides you through relaxation techniques to help access the subconscious mind and create positive change.
Hypnosis is not advised for anyone who has epilepsy or any form of psychosis.
No. There are some myths and misconceptions around hypnotherapy, often arising from stage hypnosis or TV representations. I have no interest in getting you to quack like a duck and couldn’t do this anyway as that’s not your desire or intention. Hypnosis is not about loss of control but rather being in a state of focused attention, where you are aware of your surroundings, can move, talk and come out of hypnosis at any time should you want to. You cannot be made to accept suggestions, do or believe anything against your will during a session. This is why your own motivation in making changes is so integral to the success of hypnotherapy – you are in control and driving the agenda.
My hypnotherapy programme can help people with a wide range of issues. I mainly see clients for:
By addressing the root causes of these problems at the subconscious level, hypnotherapy can very rapidly bring about lasting positive changes.
The vast majority of people can be hypnotised – if they want to be. The depth of trance varies from person to person but doesn’t affect results. Hypnosis is a natural state of mind, similar to daydreaming, and with practice, you can achieve deeper trance states, and more quickly. I can show you how to do self-hypnosis if you’re interested. Hypnotherapy is a co-operative process and your own motivation is crucial for the programme to be really successful. Anyone who is open to the process and has a strong desire to make a change is generally very receptive to hypnosis.
The number of sessions needed depends on the individual and the issue being addressed. Very often people achieve the results they want after just one session (and listening to their audio recording for 21 days), while others may need further sessions. The majority of the clients I see for hypnotherapy for weight loss stop their unhealthy eating habits immediately after one session. Anxiety and low confidence also generally shift very quickly. I will work with you to develop a personalised plan based on your specific needs and goals.
My hypnotherapy sessions typically last between 90 minutes to 2 hours but we can make them shorter if that works better for you, particularly if you are having repeat sessions.
I always suggest leaving some time free in your schedule after the session to relax and allow your subconscious mind to absorb the changes you will have made during the session.
Most clients report feeling “lighter” directly after the session. Often there is a feeling of something having been lifted or released, together with the satisfaction of having understood the root cause of an issue that may have been affecting that person for a long time.
There’s often also a sense of achievement and feeling refreshed.
I suggest scheduling a short while after the session to relax and do something ‘mindless’ to allow the subconscious mind to absorb the positive changes. Some clients feel tired for the rest of the day and most sleep very well that night.
Hypnotherapy is backed by a growing body of scientific evidence and is recognised as an effective therapeutic modality for a variety of conditions. Numerous studies have shown that hypnotherapy can be particularly beneficial in treating anxiety, stress, certain behavioural issues and weight loss for example.
Major medical organisations like the British Medical Association (BMA) and the American Psychological Association (APA) recognise hypnotherapy as a valid and complementary treatment. Hypnosis is often used alongside traditional medicine and psychotherapy to enhance results.
While research is still evolving, hypnotherapy’s efficacy in creating long-lasting behavioural changes and emotional healing is well-documented, making it a respected approach within the field of holistic mental health care.
Hypnotherapy is a gentle, non-invasive and highly effective approach to personal growth and change. If you’re struggling with anxiety, unwanted habits, or emotional issues that maybe other methods haven’t resolved, hypnotherapy could be a good fit for you. It can create powerful and rapid shifts for people who are feeling ‘stuck’ with an issue or feel like they are self-sabotaging. At Clear Skies Hypnotherapy, I offer a free initial consultation to discuss your needs and see if hypnotherapy is the right approach for you.
